DR SEAN COPSON

Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon

Helping you maximise the quality of your life.

Meet Dr Sean Copson

Gynaecologist and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon

I am a gynaecologist with specialist training in advanced laparoscopic surgery, focusing on the care of women with complex gynaecological conditions. I specialise in the treatment of endometriosis, fibroids, heavy menstrual bleeding, abnormal vaginal bleeding, ovarian cysts, abnormal pap smears, as well as other general gynaecological conditions.

I believe in creating a relaxed and supportive environment where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns. Together, we will develop a personalised care plan that fits your lifestyle and addresses your unique needs.

As an endometriosis specialist, I completed a two-year fellowship dedicated to the management of all stages of this condition. I combine the latest evidence-based medical treatments with advanced laparoscopic excision surgery, including management of severe endometriosis affecting the ovaries, bowel, bladder, and ureters. For patients wishing to preserve fertility, I prioritise fertility-sparing surgical approaches.

During your consultation, I take the time to listen carefully to your symptoms and concerns. I work closely with a multidisciplinary team of physiotherapists, psychologists, dietitians, pain specialists, and other surgical colleagues to provide comprehensive, holistic care. If surgery is recommended, I use advanced techniques and technology to maximise outcomes while minimising risks.

My goal is simple: to improve your quality of life and support you every step of the way.

“I enjoy taking time to get to know my patients, so that we can work together to find a solution to their problems that is tailored to their individual needs.”

What is an AGES Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon?

An AGES Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon is someone who has undertaken advanced surgical training to be able to deal with all complex benign gynaecologic surgical conditions.

AGES Surgeons undertake two years of additional surgical fellowship training in a unit with a high concentration of complex surgical cases. AGES fellowship involves undertaking research, examinations and surgical workshops to become an expert in benign gynaecological surgery.

AGES (Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery Society) Laparoscopic Surgeons have the highest level of surgical training in Australia for the laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts and abnormal periods.

I completed my two-year AGES Fellowship through the Endoscopy Unit at King Edward Memorial Hospital, which is the statewide referral unit for the most complex cases of endometriosis in Western Australia.

As an endometriosis specialist, I am one of a handful of surgeons in Western Australia able to offer complete surgical excision of all stages of endometriosis.
In your appointment I will take time to listen to your concerns and we will work together to formulate a management plan that suits you.
